Hanging Frames with Ribbon

Update on the framed recipes:<br/><br/>A week or so ago, I painted two dollar store frames and printed out two recipes (one from my mom and one from my grandmother), but I couldn't decide what to do with them, besides having them somewhere in the kitchen.  Turns out we have either enormous walls - too big for the little frames, or tiny spaces - too cluttered with the little frames.  So I put them on the windowsill until I thought of a better idea:<br/><br/><img alt="" height="225" src="http://www.fyimodularhomes.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/039-300x225.jpg" title="039" width="300" /><br/><br/>And then one day while <del>rummaging through</del> cleaning out one of my cupboards, I found a roll of 1" wide black ribbon. And I thought, "Huh, that could work".<br/><br/>So staple gun in hand, I went to work.  I just measured the frames and the ribbon, and stapled the ribbon right to the back of the frames.  I left about 3" at the top and bottom. To hang, I used Velcro! Decorating for FREE

Yes, I'm on Pinterest again.  It's just so darn addicting and fun and inspiring!  However, I realize it could bankrupt me in a hurry if I decide to try and make or build or buy everything I am interested in! Similarly, I could gain 30 lbs just looking at the food... but that's another story.<br/><br/>I find myself pretty broke this month SO I set out to find 7 projects I can do this coming week that cost <em>NOTHING</em>. Okay, let me be more specific, I set out to find projects that don't require me to <em>BUY</em> anything!<br/><br/>I came up with a few ideas, and I have everything I need here in the house.<br/><br/>1. Take an old mirror and put on sticky letters and paint, and peel off the letters, like so:<br/><br/><img alt="Pinned Image" id="pinCloseupImage" src="http://media-cache-ec3.pinterest.com/upload/381539399650834421_kRKeKfX4_c.jpg" /><br/><br/>I have two mirrors and some vinyl letters with which I'm going to attempt this project.<br/><br/>2. Find a free font site, use colored or cool craft paper, and print up favorite quotes, song lyrics, or whatever, and put in an old frame.  If the frame is ugly or less than appealing, give it a quick coat of spray paint or wrap it in ribbon.<br/><br/><img alt="Pinned Image" id="pinCloseupImage" src="http://media-cache-ec3.pinterest.com/upload/281543696317442_dwYzJdEu_c.jpg" /><br/><br/><img alt="Pinned Image" id="pinCloseupImage" src="http://media-cache-ec2.pinterest.com/upload/11259067787980530_cgXZeS0j_c.jpg" /><br/><br/>3. Give clear candle holders or wine glasses some bling with a thin coat of elmers glue and glitter for a "new" candle holder.<br/><br/><img alt="Pinned Image" id="pinCloseupImage" src="http://media-cache-lt0.pinterest.com/upload/157626055677973655_vNmM124K_c.jpg" /><br/><br/>4. I have to do this!  Just use paint stirrers (sticks), and stain them, or paint them.  Glue them around an old ugly lamp shade!<br/><br/><img alt="Pinned Image" id="pinCloseupImage" src="http://media-cache0.pinterest.com/upload/287667494919337335_vXhIHr1C_c.jpg" /><br/><br/>5. Paint picture frames for the stairway, so that they all match and look antique. I have to do a little more research on this as I would like my frames to be black with a teeny tiny bit of red or gold showing through... but this picture shows the effect I want.<br/><br/><img alt="Pinned Image" id="pinCloseupImage" src="http://media-cache0.pinterest.com/upload/59320920063790429_K5FRn21D_c.jpg" /><br/><br/>6. Decorating the Kitchen (kinda)

Decisions. Decisions.<br/><br/>It's the little things, right?  So, can I justify writing a post on dish racks?<br/><br/>I have a dishwasher but a lot of things get hand washed.  Like good knives, heavy pots and pans, wooden stuff...<br/><br/>In my opinion I have a pretty sink with pretty counters.<br/><br/>[caption id="attachment_661" align="aligncenter" width="225"]<a href="http://www.fyimodularhomes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/december2012-082.jpg"><img alt="" class="size-medium wp-image-661" height="300" src="http://www.fyimodularhomes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/december2012-082-225x300.jpg" title="december2012 082" width="225" /></a> Sink[/caption]<br/><br/>Therefore, I've been going without the ubiquitous sink rack, cuz I just don't like looking at them.  However, I have to admit, I'm kinds sick of pulling the good knives and spatulas out of the bottom of the second sink bay, still wet.  And my big heavy calphalon pans make a horrible noise on the bottom of the sink.  I guess it's time to invest in a sink rack.<br/><br/>Here's what I don't want:<br/><br/><img alt="" height="375" id="il_fi" src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/spacesavers/15205-rubbermaid-dish-drainer_1_375.jpg" width="375" /><br/><br/>I just don't want to see that.<br/><br/>So shall I get this:<br/><br/><iframe style="width: 120px; height: 240px;" src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=fymoho-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B005M8YX1W&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" width="320" height="240"></iframe><br/><br/>Or this?<br/><br/><iframe style="width: 120px; height: 240px;" src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=fymoho-20&o=1&p=8&l=as1&asins=B002JM263G&ref=tf_til&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr" frameborder="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" width="320" height="240"></iframe><br/><br/>I'm leaning towards the latter because at least it will keep utensils off the bottom of the sink, and I won't have to see it at all if there's nothing in the sink. And yes, before you think it or ask it, I really am too lazy to put the sink rack away every time.  That's how I roll.
